Black Minds Matter Project

The Black Minds Matter Project is an opportunity that cultivates innovation and creativity of young Black students. Participants are challenged to address and solve issues affecting Black student achievement. The goal of the Black Minds Matter Project is to transform the Black student experience through supporting student innovation by providing them a space to create and implement solutions that work in the best interest of Black students. Finalists will present a short project documentary in front of their peers at the annual Student Leadership Conference held in March. 

The Black Minds Matter Project serves as a platform for Black students to design solutions to some of the most pressing issues that affect or threaten them


The Black Minds Matter Project serves as a vehicle for students to be change agents for a better America, and



The Black Minds Matter Project serves as a vehicle that allowed students to utilize and practice 21st Century Learning Skills.



Requirements

  • Participants must be enrolled in one of BSCU’s membership schools
  • Can commit to the entire project that they can implement start to finish. 
  • Be willing to attend project orientation on Monday, October 25th at 4:00PM. RSVP here.
  • Must have a BSU Advisor or School Staff commit to supervising project
  • Students can participate as a individual or group participant

Timeline

  • October 2021:  Project Planning 
  • November - January 2022: Implement Project
  • February 2022: Develop Video Presentation
  • March 2022: Present results at conference
